Don’t miss the Hydros For Heroes event every August or September. Dates vary and are dependent on our saltwater tide levels in order to race safely. Hydro for Heroes is an American Power Boats Association (APBA) registered national and regional professional charity racing event promoted and hosted by The Craig McKenzie Team Foundation. This event is meant to highlight the Heroes in our local community to include Law Enforcement, Firefighters/EMS, Military, Healthcare Professionals, and Teachers. These Heroes make a huge impact in our community every day through their service and sacrifice.
The race is operated and run by Better Homes and Gardens McKenzie Realty and community volunteers. The net proceeds from Hydros for Heroes are donated to support local heroes and to fund college scholarships for our future leaders. This free to the public and professional racing event draws over 50 regional race teams, which include some of the sport’s top names and approximately 10,000 fans from local and surrounding areas, as well as nationally. These are often the same racers who compete at Seafair in Seattle, Water Follies in the TriCities and San Diego races, and it happens right in Oak Harbor Bay!
Another popular event is the Oak Harbor Music Festival, which takes place on September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This event offers a world-class range of music acts, as well as art and craft vendors, food trucks, and family activities.
